Gilcrest is a private farm offering an incredible venue for carriage driving. Its lightly rolling fields and trails consist of stone free well-drained sandy soil. The result is a combination of footing and drainage that can provide excellent going even after a heavy rain.

Our schooling facilities incorporate all styles of driving even though we are predominantly set up for Combined Driving. Gilcrest offers a 40×80 and a 40×100 dressage arenas; and an ever changing cones course. There are three schooling obstacles with more in future plans. You can train in the grass dressage arenas, in the obstacles or on the cones course by yourself or in the company of other drivers. For conditioning and pleasure driving, we offer miles of trails on the property plus 16 miles of dirt roads adjacent to the property that are appropriate for the novice to advanced driver.

Hitchcock Woods, a 2000-acre equestrian park located in the historic horse district of Aiken, is just 15 miles to the west. Katydid Farm, hosts of a fall CDE, and spring HDT/CT, is only 1 mile away by truck or just 10 minutes by carriage.

Gilcrest Farm is located 13-15 miles from major restaurants, motels and shopping. Easy access and parking for large trailers or semi-trucks makes it easy to stop by for the day or the season. Prior to driving or boarding at the farm, a current Negative Coggins must be provided and a Release & Waiver of Liability must be signed. Please contact us for additional information about our facilities including our daily and monthly rates.
